The Rieter Group has reached a final agreement with OC Oerlikon to acquire Barmag, the global leader in synthetic fiber equipment under its umbrella, for 713 million Swiss francs.

Who is Rieter?

Rieter is a global leader in spinning systems, with over 230 years of company history. Rieter is headquartered in Winterthur, Switzerland, and develops machines, systems, and components for the efficient and sustainable processing of natural and synthetic fibers. Responsible resource utilization is at the core of the company's philosophy. Rieter operates 18 production sites in ten countries and employs approximately 4,790 people worldwide.

This acquisition will accelerate Rieter's growth strategy in the natural and synthetic fiber sectors and strengthen our position as a global market leader. Barmag is expected to achieve sales of approximately 734 million Swiss francs in fiscal year 2024, and its technological strength and market influence are highly complementary to Rieter's existing business, particularly in the rapidly growing synthetic fiber sector.

This acquisition marks an important milestone for Rieter on its journey to become a "leader in the integration of natural and man-made fibers." We believe that the technological synergies and innovative capabilities from the integration will provide you with more flexible and competitive solutions.
